       La télévision est un "dispositif de transmission instantanée d’images, par câble ou par ondes hertziennes" (encyclopédie Encarta). Auquel s’ajoutent ensuite le satellite, avec ses paraboles ornant les toits et les balcons, puis le câble. En 1996, la télévision se marie avec l’internet grâce au système web TV, qui permet de se connecter directement à l’internet à partir de son téléviseur. Peu après, on peut aussi regarder la télévision sur l’écran de son ordinateur. Au début des années 2000, tout comme pour l’ordinateur, l’écran LCD (liquid crystal display) ultra-plat concurrence l’écran cathodique classique. On assiste également aux débuts de la télévision numérique, notamment avec la DTTV (ou DTT: digital terrestrial television). En 2006 apparaissent les grands écrans branchés à l’ordinateur pour contempler tout à loisir les vidéos et films choisis sur le web. En mai 2007 débute une nouvelle ère télévisée avec le lancement de Joost, un service gratuit de télévision sur l’internet permettant de regarder les grandes chaînes de télévision sur son ordinateur.
